A wadi is a dried up river bed, occasionally it floods and frequently there is some water in small pools.
Wadi Asimah is near the east coast of UAE, near Masafi. We decided to go Wadi bashing as we had done a lot of dune bashing and we had heard a lot about the greenery in Wadi Asimah.
Wadi Asimah is one of the featured destinations in the UAE Off-road explorer book and I highly recommend people who are trying to explore the UAE and visit Wadi Asimah in particular, to buy this book from any bookshop as it really helps with all the maps and gps coordinates to get there.
Still if you want to get there without this book, the coordinates of the place are below.
The wrangler got over the big boulders in the stream quite easily. Although I managed to scrape the bottom of the Jeep once, the 3 mm skid plate absorbed the impact. The Jeep continued as if nothing happened.
That’s a drive I will certainly do again Winter, the water in the pools was very refreshing.
Driving to Wadi Asimah is best done with a GPS and the offroad explorer book for UAE.
I have intentionally put in this checklist above the location so that you don’t miss it. Please make sure you have these in your 4×4.
GPS Waypoint 1 – 25° 24′ 43″ N 55° 59′ 31″ E”
GPS Waypoint 2 – 25° 25′ 17″ N 56° 05′ 48″ E”
GPS Waypoint 3 – 25° 24′ 11″ N 56° 08′ 48″ E”
All-in-all Wadi Asimah is very green, and the photo to the right reminded my of Goa. It is a far cry from the sand and rocky terrain that we are normally used to seeing in the UAE.
